Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk

Mitchell Shire Council engaged HTPS as Project Managers & Construction Managers to oversee the construction of the Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk project. The commemorative wall aims to give an accurate history of the times prior to military commitment, the period of Australia’s involvement and the aftermath.

Working with the Vietnam Veteran’s Association, Council & the design team, this exciting project was developed through a series of workshops involving extensive consultation to ensure the appropriate recognition of those who served was achieved.

The project consisted of 106 glass art panels composed of images tracing a timeline through the Vietnam veteran’s story. The wall incorporates 60,000 names of those who served and is illuminated at night. The digitally printed glass makes up an 83 metre long wall complete with concrete plinths that accommodate poppies. The project also included construction of pathways, landscaping, roadworks and installation of street lighting.

Providing areas of contemplation along the walk, the project now stands in perpetuity for all to reflect upon.
