Underscored by environmental sustainability and the sensitive coastal environment, Keast Park Community Pavilion integrates athletic activities with social functions. The ground floor consists of a series of timber pods and two large public deck areas that provide shade in summer and wind protection year round, as well as meshing the Carrum Bowling Club, Sea Scouts with an event space, Cafe and park.
The upper level runs from the Nepean Highway forecourt to a café and verandah space overlooking the beach. The undulating sculptural ridgeline mirrors the natural undulations of the adjacent dunes and is reinforced by the application ofvertical timber planks around the façade and a jagged timber path connecting visitors to the sea.
HTPS played a key role in the successful delivery of this project that sits as the new multi-purpose gateway to the City of Frankston.
